Along with four resident medical doctors, the community also provides public health services for immunizations, support for families with newborns, prevention and promotional health advice, as well as family counselling. For alternative health care, Altona offers numerous massage therapists, homeopathic consultants, and extensive chiropractic services.

Altona boasts three experienced dentists who offer the best in modern dental treatment. And for those who no longer require their services, a denture clinic is also available!

Police and Emergency Services

A safe place to grow up. A sense of security. Peace of mind. All things that symbolize life in Altona! And its no wonder! The town has its own six person police force along with two auxiliary constables, and an animal control officer offering 24 hour protective service to the community. An RCMP detachment is also located in the area providing service to the surrounding communities.

Altona/Rhineland Emergency Services provides ambulance service, fire suppression, rescue, and public education to Altona and the surrounding areas. The impressive 27 member staff is professionally trained to respond to emergency calls through the 911 service, any time, day or night.

You name it: Altona's got it! It's vast array of retail outlets provide clothing, groceries, hardware, building supplies, furniture, appliances, jewelry, books, flower arrangements and sporting goods, just to name a few. Several service stations, repair shops and car dealers allow for any automotive need.

For the farmer, Altona is all you need! Aerial spraying, agricultural equipment, parts and repair, feed services, fertilizers and herbicides, and seed cleaning are all available at the Sunflower Capital!

For the utmost in shopping convenience, the Altona Mall offers 70,000 sq. ft. housing 30 retail stores, businesses and professional offices all in a comfortable, climate controlled environment.

Professional services in Altona are as vast as its retail selection! Social Services

CARE (Community Assistance Resources for Elderly) is a support service for seniors. It provides group meals, home and yard maintenance, and transportation to appointments for seniors living in the community. Along with Home Care services, which offer prepared meals and personal care, older town residents can continue to enjoy their independence.

Altona's recreational programs offer a huge variety of activities for any age, interest or season. Everything from organized sports, to instruction in computer, dance, martial arts, painting, gymnastics, babysitting and aerobics is available. There's never any reason to be bored in this town!
