We are currently accepting applications for the position of Public Works Assistant. The successful candidate will report to the Public Works Supervisor and Public Works Foreman in the operation of the Transportation and Utilities departments for the Town of Altona.  Duties include street maintenance, construction projects, landscaping, heavy equipment operations, utilities maintenance and machinery repair.  Applicants must have a minimum Grade 12 High School Diploma and the ability to obtain education credits as needed for certification in the field of Water and Waste-water Equipment Operation, Pesticide Application, and Work Place Safety.  We are looking for candidates that possess a commitment to the community and demonstrate a readiness to serve the public, and especially an ability to respond under various working conditions and emergency situations.
