Summary information for 2010 Budget

The enclosed budget documentation provides for a slight decrease in the 2010 Municipal Tax Levy as compared to the 2009 Municipal Tax Levy. It should be noted that there was a province wide reassessment which affects the 2010 Municipal and School levies. For the Town of Altona this reassessment results in a significant re-alignment(shift) in the burden of taxation from Commercial to Residential. The result is that the Mill Rates have decreased significantly, however most residential properties will see an increase in their taxes due to the assessment change.
