Garbage Collection

The garbage pickup schedule for the Town of Altona is as follows:

• Southwest - Monday
• Southeast - Tuesday
• Northwest - Thursday
• Northeast - Friday

Please Note: Garbage Bag Tags are required for garbage pickup when you exceed the allotted amount. Houses and duplexes are allotted 2 untagged bags of garbage per week per household unit. Apartments are allotted 1 untagged bag of garbage per week per household unit. Garbage Bag Tags are available for $1.00 per tag and may be purchased at the Town Office. Each bag exceeding the allotted amount requires one tag.

Waste Disposal Site

The Waste Disposal Site is located 3 miles North of Sun Valley Co-Op Grocery Store and 1 ½ miles East. All loads brought to the disposal site must be covered or tied down.

A used oil recycling depot is also located at the Town of Altona/R.M. of Rhineland/Town of Gretna Waste Disposal site. Please bring any used oil, oil filters or containers you have to this depot for recycling.

October 15 to April 15

Tuesday thru Friday 8:30a.m. to 5p.m.
Saturday 8:30a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

April 16 to October 14

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:30a.m. to 5p.m
Wednesday 8:30a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday 8:30a.m. to 12:00 noon
