Town of Altona Recreation Department

The Recreation Department plans, organizes and promotes recreation functions. It is responsible for recreation programs, grants & consultations, all facility scheduling, facility planning and operations, administrative functions, fund raising, volunteer recruitment & management, special events & leadership development.

The Recreation Facilities available in Altona are the Altona Aquatic Centre, Millennium Exhibition Centre, Altona Park with ball diamonds, picnic shelters, outdoor stage, tennis courts, campgrounds and trails. The Buffalo Creek Nature Park, and other smaller parks in Altona, as well as six other ball diamonds within Altona.

Buffalo Creek Nature Park...

The Nature Park in Altona is a great place to relax. This 8 acre park features a large pond (lit up at night), fieldhouse, walking trails, a great mound and many ecozones with interpretive signs. Catch & release fishing ONLY is allowed every day from May 22 to October. Come out and enjoy the park at any time of year.

The winter season features skating and tobogganing seven days a week. The fieldhouse is available for a warm changing area and restrooms. Cross country ski trails are groomed in the parks area as weather permits.
